In 2016 Roger Federer joined Rafa Nadal on the centre court of the Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar for the inauguration of the sports centre. Four years later, another Swiss player, Antoine Bellier, has shared the same centre court with Rafa after winning the ITF by LG tournament, which took place at the academy this week. This morning, Bellier beat French player Evan Furness 7-6, 6-4.

The news means that Bellier succeeds Carlos Alcaraz as champion, who last year won both ITF tournaments played at the Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar.

In this second week of competition, names such as the Italian Stefano Napolitano, young Danish hopeful Holger Rune and this weeks champion Antoine Bellier were all in the battle for the title. Spanish players from the Academy Daniel Rincón (champion of the 2019 Orange Bowl), Pedro Vives and Mark Ktiri, among others, will also be bidding for a place among the elite professionals.

Next month, the Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar will become the epicentre of Spanish professional tennis as it hosts three more women’s ITF tournaments. In addition, Manacor will welcome some of young tennis’ biggest stars as it hosts an ITF Junior from 8 to 14 February.
