The Enrique Esteire Open, a wheelchair tournament held from October 7 to 10 at the Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar, has crowned Van Koot, Reid and the Caverzaschi-Zhenxufinales pair, which means the triumph of four different nationalities in this third edition of the tournament.

England’s Gordon Reid and Argentina’s Gustavo Fernandez starred in an intense men’s final, with the former finally winning due to the latter’s withdrawal due to injury.

In the women’s final, Aniek Van Koot from the Netherlands certified an impeccable tournament with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Yui Kamiji from Japan.

For his part, Spaniard Dani Caverzaschi lost in the singles semifinals but got his revenge in the doubles final, where he teamed up with Ju Zhenxu to beat the duo of Frederic Cattaneo and Alwande Sikhosana 6-4, 6-2.

The tournament, which pays tribute to Enrique Esteire, tennis pioneer and co-founder of the Chamartin Tennis Club, has consolidated in its last editions as a competitive reference and at the same time as a space for visibility and inclusion.
