Known for its international prestige in training young tennis players since its opening in 2016, the Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar has also made a strong commitment to padel, which has been consolidated today with the expansion of its facilities. World number one Gemma Triay was responsible for inaugurating three new indoor courts in a pavilion located at the heart of the high-performance campus in Manacor.

“I’m impressed; these are world-class courts,” said Gemma Triay , who was hosted by Maribel Nadal, the academy’s deputy general manager.
Thus, the Rafa Nadal Academy now has a total of 19 padel courts (9 outdoor courts and 10 indoor courts) , complementing the rest of the services already available. Its fitness center, its pioneering health and wellness spaces, its wide range of restaurants and its modern residence mean that the Rafa Nadal Academy has become one of the ideal places to practice paddle tennis.
Padel courts
Thanks to state-of-the-art facilities featuring 9 outdoor courts and 7 indoor courts, the academy has developed padel training programs for both youth and adults since its inception.
These new courts, implemented thanks to the synergy with Greenset, will be used by the professionals who train at the academy daily: Patricia Martínez, Ramiro Moyano, Antonio “Pincho” Fernández, and Adrián Marqués. The new courts will also be enjoyed by amateur and junior players who participate in weekly training programs at the academy.
The first to use the courts was world number 1 Gemma Triay, who then shared the court with around thirty children who are participating in the third edition of the Padel Camp, a joint program run by the academy with the Spanish and Balearic Padel Federations.
At the start of the season, Gemma became an ambassador for the academy alongside Franco Stupaczuck. While both were already rooted for the Rafa Nadal Academy, this year they solidified their relationship with the goal of further joining forces. This week, Gemma herself is preparing for the second half of the season at the academy after having a spectacular first semester with her partner, Delfi Brea.
Specifically, its coach, Rodrigo Ovide, became responsible for the academy’s training methodology in 2025, elevating the quality of the teaching provided to junior and amateur players. In addition to the Rafa Nadal Academy Padel Team’s successful participation in the first two editions of the Hexagon Cup , another pillar of the academy’s highly relevant role at a national level has been the creation of the Rafa Nadal Academy Padel Tour by The Adecco Group , an innovative amateur padel circuit promoted by the academy that combines sport, leisure, fun and values, and which is already halfway through its second edition.
The internationalization of this sport has also coincided with the global expansion of the Rafa Nadal Academy. One example of this has been Kuwait’s debut on the world stage of padel. On the iconic stage of the Rafa Nadal Academy, the world’s best players put on a grand sporting spectacle in unique facilities, inaugurated by Rafa Nadal himself in 2020. As a result of this organizational success, the Kuwait P1 Premier Padel was voted the best Premier Padel event in the world in 2024 and has been designated as the host of the International Padel Federation’s Couples World Cup. Last March, the Rafa Nadal Tennis Center located in Costa Mujeres (Mexico) hosted the Cancún P2 Premier Padel tournament, where Gemma Triay, Delfi Brea, Juan Lebrón, and Franco Stupaczuck were crowned champions.
Maribel Nadal, the academy’s deputy general manager, spoke highly of the opening of this new space. “We are very happy with the inauguration of these three new courts and are especially excited that Gemma was the first to use them. While tennis remains the academy’s flagship sport, we are very proud of the growth experienced by padel. More and more adults and young people are coming from all over the world to learn and have fun here, and we aspire to have world-class facilities.”
