Mart\u00edn Landaluce faces one of the most significant chapters of his career this week with his debut in the Next Gen ATP Finals 2025, a challenge that he himself defines as \u201ca very special tournament.\u201d<\/p>\n\n

The qualification of the player trained at the Rafa Nadal Academy comes after a season that confirms his progression and competitive solidity. He lifted the title at the Challenger de Orleans (France), reached the semi-finals in Olbia, passed the qualifying round of the Australian Open and reached the second round of the Cincinnati Masters 1000. In addition, he reached the semi-finals in both the Challenger de Canberra, the first of the year, and the Villena Challenger. <\/p>\n\n

\u201cQualifying for the Next Gen means being among the best U20 players. We have been doing very well for years and, above all this year, we have pushed hard. It is going to be a very special tournament. I know most of the players and I am sure we are going to have a great time,\u201d explains Landaluce, motivated by the opportunity ahead.<\/p>\n\n

The Spaniard is confident that he can show his best version in a format that he considers will be very competitive: \u201cI hope it will be a very beautiful tournament, compete a lot and try to do my best. We are all arriving in very good shape, in a very positive line, and hopefully matches of that level will occur.\u201d<\/p>\n\n

Asked about the innovative rules of the tournament, where the four-game-per-set structure stands out, Landaluce admits that he likes them, but that they do not allow for errors: \u201cI think it makes everything quite dynamic. It is good for the players because it forces you to start at full throttle from the first point; sets can escape very quickly. It is the rule that I like the most and in which I want to continue improving.\u201d<\/p>\n\n

The Madrid native, only 19 years old, will also become the fourth player trained at the Rafa Nadal Academy to compete in this prestigious event, following in the footsteps previously marked by Abdullah Shelbayh (2023), Casper Ruud (2019) and Jaume Munar, semi-finalist in the inaugural edition held in Milan in 2017 and aspires to be the first to win it. \u201cI didn’t know that I was the fourth player after Munar, Ruud and Abdullah. It motivates me to give my best and try to be the first.\u201d <\/p>\n\n
