The Rafa Nadal Academy dressed up to host the world premiere of the first episode of RAFA, the new Netflix documentary series about the life and career of Rafael Nadal, which will premiere globally on May 29.

The screening in Manacor brought together more than a hundred young players who live, train, and are inspired daily by Rafa’s values at the Academy, as well as over 100 staff members from the Rafa Nadal Academy, including coaches, fitness trainers, physiotherapists, and staff from the Rafa Nadal Museum, Rafa Nadal School, Rafa Nadal Club, restaurants, and various Academy departments.
Rafa Nadal wanted to thank Netflix for the opportunity to hold this premiere at the Academy and for the presence in Mallorca of Diego Ávalos, Vice President of Netflix for Spain, Portugal, and Turkey: “I am particularly excited because this is my home. Many of you here are part of my present and my future. Being able to watch this series here, before anyone else, means a lot to me.”
After the screening, the Academy players highlighted the emotional and inspiring impact the first episode had on them, especially the way it shows Rafa’s ability to overcome difficulties and keep fighting even in the most complicated moments.
“It is a huge inspiration for all of us. Seeing everything Rafa has gone through and how he has continued to fight against pain and uncertainty makes us admire him even more,” explained some of the players present after the premiere.
The young tennis players also valued the more human and vulnerable side of Nadal reflected in the series: “We are used to seeing him here every day training, recovering, or greeting us, but the documentary shows all the work and sacrifice behind reaching that level,” they noted.
Other players highlighted the daily example of living with the values Rafa conveys at the Academy: “The documentary proves that daily hard work pays off and motivates us even more to keep pushing ourselves every day.”
RAFA will premiere globally on Netflix on May 29. Previously, the Academy hosted a very special premiere where, thanks to the collaboration of Cines Artesiete FAN, located in FAN Mallorca Shopping, all attendees were able to enjoy popcorn and cinema buckets during the screening.”
