The Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar continues to grow
In order to continue bolstering its international prestige and to be able to offer players all over the world a service tailored to their needs, the Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar is continuing work to expand its facilities in Manacor.
The Academy’s extension will allow it to meet the huge demand from the players and fans who visit the facilities every year. With this in mind, a multiuse hall is under construction that will house 3 indoor hard courts and 7 covered clay courts. The new hall will also have spaces for fitness training, physiotherapy, psychology, nutrition and sports medicine that will allow a comprehensive service to be offered to players. Rafa Nadal himself has noted that the expansion will make it possible to offer an optimum service to the players on days when adverse weather conditions make it difficult to play tennis:
“With this expansion we are looking to move closer to what a leading international sports centre needs. The expansion means so much to the players because in Mallorca there are some days when it rains and sometimes they cannot train in the conditions they deserve. With this expansion of covered courts I think we are making a huge leap in quality as the service we are going to give the children and adults is going to be even better than what we can offer at the moment. It will also help us be able to hold more events that could be important to the entire Community. I’m happy because people from all over the world who come regularly will be able to enjoy better facilities and because this will allow us to give a better service to all the fans from Manacor and all over Mallorca. I think that now we can say we are on the road to being a leading international tennis centre”, Rafa himself stated.
Once the expansion is complete, the Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar and Es Centre will boast a world-class sports infrastructure for use of both the international public and Mallorcans. After its expansion, which is scheduled for completion this year, the complex will have the following facilities:
- 19 outdoor hard courts
- 15 outdoor clay courts (7 of which will be constructed in 2021)
- 4 indoor hard courts
- 7 covered clay courts
- 1 football pitch
- 7 outdoor padel courts
- 6 indoor padel courts (Padel Manacor)
- 1 Padbol court (Padel Manacor)
- 2 squash courts
- 1 semi-Olympic swimming pool
- 1 outdoor pool
- Fitness Centre
- Spa
