After succeeding for many years as both tennis players and students in the Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar, the player born in Mallorca Pedro Vives and the British player Max Basing began their college experience in the United States this past August. Both received a scholarship to combine their studies and compete in the University’s tennis team.

Even though he had many school offers, Pedro Vives made the decision to study at Texas Christian Univeristy (TCU). The Frogs had a great season last year where they ended with a 19-8 match record, ending their season ranked #5 in the country. Pedro’s experience competing in the ITF and his great talent has led him to start playing number 5 in the lineup during preseason.

His debut could not had been better; the newest Frog took down last year’s Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) No. 64 John McNally after a three setter better. This victory led him to jump into the Top 10 ITA Division I Men’s Newcomers as the number 2.

Max Basing, who graduated this past June from the Rafa Nadal International School, joined the Stanford men’s tennis team in August. Stanford University is one of the most prestigious colleges in the United States with an amazing sports program. . Both the men’s and the women’s teams are always on the top of the rankings of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). When Max got the offer to go to Stanford, he did not think about it twice. He is already taking advantage of this opportunity and making the most out of it, as he is one of the three Pac-12 student athletes who entered the Top 10 ITA Newcomers ranking during preseason.

What a great start for both Rafa Nadal Academy alumni, that we hope that they can maintain throughout the entire year.
