Dominic Thiem to Play for Team Murray at the Rafa Nadal Academy Slam

Austrian Dominic Thiem will be part of Team Murray at the Rafa Nadal Academy Slam, the doubles exhibition taking place Saturday, October 3, at the Rafa Nadal Academy in Manacor (Mallorca) to celebrate the Academy’s tenth anniversary.
Thiem, who visited the Rafa Nadal Academy facilities in 2023 for training sessions, becomes the first confirmed player for the team captained by Andy Murray, which will face Team Rafa, led by Rafa Nadal, in a very special event that will bring together some of the biggest names in world tennis.
The former Austrian tennis player arrives at the Rafa Nadal Academy Slam with a career marked by some of the greatest achievements of his generation. Thiem became US Open champion in 2020, won 17 ATP titles, and reached world No. 3. He also contested three other Grand Slam finals—two at Roland Garros and one at the Australian Open—and was a finalist at the ATP Finals in 2019 and 2020.
With the announcement of Thiem, four of the eight players who will participate in this doubles exhibition are now known: Rafa Nadal himself, Andy Murray, who will captain the team facing the Spaniard’s, Richard Gasquet (Team Rafa), and Dominic Thiem (Team Murray). The remaining members of Team Rafa and Team Murray will be announced progressively before the event.
The Rafa Nadal Academy Slam will be one of the highlights of the Academy’s tenth anniversary celebration and will pit two teams led by Nadal and Murray against each other in an event that will combine competition, entertainment, and numerous surprises, including a performance by an international artist, and will be broadcast exclusively on Movistar Plus.
