Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar player Daniel Rincón claimed his first professional title at the weekend with victory at the ITF World Tennis Tour event in Alkmaar (The Netherlands) beating Italian player Jacopo Berrettini 7-5, 6-1 in the final.

“To win my first professional title is really incredible and I’m very happy. It’s a title that I think I’ll remember for my whole life. I’ve been training for this for a long time and the results still weren’t coming. But reaching my first final and then winning it is great payback for the huge amount of work I’ve done with my team at the Academy”, said Dani after the tournament.

Dani, who made history last summer by winning the Junior US OPEN had bowed out one step from the final 4 times this year, losing in the semis at La Nucía, Palmanova, Valldoreix and Antalya. With his latest achievement, the player from Avila (who played in the qualifiers at the Mutua Madrid Open and Conde de Godó) has crossed off one of his goals for 2022.

“It was an incredible week with tough matches, especially in the second round, with a match that I ended up winning 7-6 in the third set past midnight. I’ve had to come back, save set points against me... And I’m very happy to have come through those situations, I think that is what makes the difference on the ITF Tour”.

His next goal will be to consolidate these results in the coming weeks, starting with his imminent participation in the ITF tournament in Den Haag.
