Coleman Wong Chak-lam now has his first professional title. The Rafa Nadal Academy player was crowned champion of the Jiujiang Challenger after defeating Australia’s Adam Walton (ATP 117) 7-5, 7-6(4) in the final.

At 21 years old, Wong capped off a flawless week in which he did not drop a single set until the final, where he relied on his solid serve and mental toughness to close out the match after an intense battle lasting one hour and 51 minutes.

The match was very evenly balanced from the start, with multiple break point opportunities for both players. In the first set, after several exchanges of serve, Wong secured the decisive break in the twelfth game to take the lead.

This title marks a significant step in the young tennis player’s career, as he finally secures his first trophy after competing in six Challenger circuit finals. Before lifting the trophy in Jiujiang, Wong had been a finalist in Shenzhen (2023), Nonthaburi (2024), Bengaluru (2024), Pune (2025), and Seoul (2025), falling just short of the title on each occasion.

Wong continues to make tennis history despite his youth. In his first main draw appearance at a Grand Slam, the 2025 US Open, the 21-year-old from Hong Kong also secured his first major victory. On that occasion, he defeated American Aleksandar Kovacevic 6-4, 7-5, 7-6(4).

Thanks to this triumph in China, Wong rises to number 110 in the ATP rankings, the highest of his career. The Hong Kong native will continue competing this week at the Wuxi Challenger, also in China, with the opportunity to consolidate his progress among the world’s tennis elite.
