Andy Murray returns to the Rafa Nadal Tennis Center in Greece

Former Scottish tennis player Andy Murray, a former world No. 1, three-time Grand Slam champion and two-time Olympic gold medallist, has returned to the Rafa Nadal Tennis Center in Greece, one of the international tennis centers that are part of the Rafa Nadal Academy’s global expansion.

Murray, who is very familiar with both the Academy’s training methodology and facilities, enjoyed a few days at the Rafa Nadal Tennis Center, located within the exclusive Sani Resort, one of the Mediterranean’s most prestigious holiday destinations.

The Briton’s relationship with the Academy dates back almost to its beginnings. In July 2016, just a few months before the official opening of the Academy in Manacor, he chose its facilities to prepare for the North American hard-court swing after winning his second Wimbledon title. Three years later, in 2019, he returned to Mallorca to compete in the Rafa Nadal Open by Movistar, the ATP Challenger tournament organized by the Academy.

Murray has always spoken highly of the Rafa Nadal Academy’s facilities and training environment: “It’s an amazing place to play tennis. The facilities are outstanding. I’m sure that for the kids who train here every day, it’s a fantastic place to develop as players.”

During his stay in Greece, Andy Murray was accompanied by the resort’s Sports Director, Dimitris Issaris, and had the opportunity to experience first-hand the daily operations of a center that, since opening in 2018, has also welcomed visits from Rafa Nadal, Toni Nadal and Carlos Moyà.

Rafa Nadal himself visited the center in 2023 and expressed his satisfaction with the project’s development: “I think the quality of the entire facility is spectacular, and it’s an incredible place to play tennis while enjoying a wonderful holiday. But what really makes the difference is the people who work here every day and the way they treat everyone.”

A Unique Destination to Enjoy Tennis

The Rafa Nadal Tennis Center Greece is located within Sani Resort, a spectacular five-star destination spread across more than 400 hectares on the Halkidiki peninsula, less than an hour from Thessaloniki.

The center features eight outdoor clay courts, where tennis programs for players of all ages and levels are held throughout the season, following the Rafa Nadal Academy’s training methodology.
