The 2025 US Open is now part of the Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar’s history books. Five of our players shone brightly at the Grand Slam that marked the end of the season’s majors.

The first is Jaume Munar , who leaves Flushing Meadows after reaching the round of 16 of a Grand Slam for the first time , which allows him to surpass his best result in a major, which he achieved this year at Wimbledon (third round). Munar, who has been training at the Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar since 2017, also achieves with this result the best ATP ranking of his life, rising to 37th in the rankings.
Munar beat Portuguese Jaime Faria in the first round (6-0, 6-3, 5-7, 6-2), then Canadian Gabriel Diallo (31) 7-6, 6-3, 7-5 in the second, and Belgian Zizou Bergs also in three sets (6-1, 6-4, 6-4). The Balearic player fell to the tournament’s number 10 seed, Italian Lorenzo Musetti (6-3, 6-0, 6-1).
Also in the men’s draw, Coleman Wong only needed his first Grand Slam main draw appearance to secure his first wins. Wong defeated American Aleksandar Kovacevic 6-4, 7-5, 7-6(4) and Australian Adam Walton (7-6, 6-2, 4-6, 6-4), giving Hong Kong its first Grand Slam win.
Also opening her Grand Slam win list for her country was Filipino Alex Eala . The 20-year-old Eala defeated Denmark’s Clara Tauson 6-3, 2-6, 7-6. The 2022 US Open Junior winner and member of the Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar since 2018, was able to savor her first victory in a Grand Slam main draw match after attempting to do so twice this year at Wimbledon and Roland Garros.
But the Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar’s successes at the US Open don’t end there. In the doubles draw, Max Exsted also achieved a spectacular victory in the main draw, partnering Cooper Woestendick, just before the junior tournament.
Finally, Ivan Ivanov achieved his second career Grand Slam after winning the US Open Junior , just weeks after winning the Wimbledon title.

The 16-year-old Bulgarian tennis player defeated his compatriot Alexander Vasilev 7-5, 6-3 in the final, a victory that cemented his position as No. 1 in the rankings . Ivanov also became the third player this century to win both Wimbledon and the US Open in the same season, after Grigor Dimitrov and Filip Peliwo.
Ivanov’s victory allows the Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar to extend its Junior Grand Slam title tally. The total number of wins now totals 13 .
