Ivan Ivanov wins the US Open Junior title, adding another Grand Slam title to the Rafa Nadal Academy

Ivan Ivanov has achieved his second career Grand Slam title after winning the US Open Junior , just weeks after winning the Wimbledon title.

The 16-year-old Bulgarian tennis player defeated his compatriot Alexander Vasilev 7-5, 6-3 in the final, a victory that cemented his position as No. 1 in the rankings . Ivanov also became the third player this century to win both Wimbledon and the US Open in the same season, after Grigor Dimitrov and Filip Peliwo.

Ivanov’s victory allows the Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar to extend its list of Junior Grand Slam titles won by its players. The total number of victories now totals 13 , seven of which came in the singles draw: Daniel Rincón (US Open 2021), Alex Eala (US Open 2022), Martín Landaluce (2022), Alina Korneeva (Australian Open and Roland Garros 2023) and Ivan Ivanov (Wimbledon 2025 and US Open 2025).

Immediately after lifting the trophy, Ivanov expressed his gratitude to the Rafa Nadal Academy. “I want to express my gratitude to the Rafa Nadal Academy , who have helped me along this journey and have been with me every step of the way. I want to thank my team, who are also from the Academy, and thank them for traveling with me. Thank you for always supporting me. I’ve been part of this journey with the Rafa Nadal Academy for four years now, and it’s been incredible. The feeling after winning my second Grand Slam is incredible, unforgettable, especially after doing it after Wimbledon and now at the US Open.”

For his part, his coach, Jeremy Paysan , appreciates Ivanov’s victory despite competing through discomfort. “It was a very special week, especially because he didn’t feel fresh at all; his shoulder was in a lot of pain all week. But Ivan once again showed great quality and his ability to always be combative when needed and to find solutions even when it’s most difficult. Congratulations to him.”

Rafa Nadal himself sent a congratulatory message to Ivanov on his ‘X’ profile. “Congratulations to Iván for winning Wimbledon and the US Open Juniors. Congratulations also to the entire Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar team,” the 22-time Grand Slam winner wrote.
