Rafa Nadal thanks Marc Górriz for his years of dedication to the Rafa Nadal Academy.

The head of the Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar’s annual tennis program , Marc Górriz has put an end to a period that he himself has described as “the best I have ever experienced professionally.”
Rafa Nadal attended the surprise farewell ceremony, thanking him for all these years and wishing him luck for the future.
It’s been a blessing to have you here leading the tennis project. Aside from being a very committed person, I think you’ve treated everyone incredibly well. We’ll definitely miss you. You know this is your home. Thank you for everything, for having dedicated yourself from the beginning to this project, which is so important to me and, I believe, to many people. Congratulations on everything you’ve done and wish you the best. Whatever you decide to do, I’m sure it will go very well.

For his part, an emotional Marc Górriz acknowledged that he is leaving the Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar “with great affection, great joy, and great satisfaction for what I’ve experienced. It’s been a splendid time for me; I’ve tried to dedicate myself body and soul. And, well, that’s why I’m leaving happy. Thank you all, and I’ll continue.”
After retiring as a professional player, having reached a career-high ranking of No. 88 in the ATP rankings in 1996, Górriz began coaching. Initially, he coached players such as Alberto Martín and Albert Portas, whom he led to the Hamburg Masters 1000 title in 2001. From there, he was appointed head of the Colombian Colsanitas team, a generation that included Alejandro Falla and Santiago Giraldo.
From his first day to his last at the Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar, Górriz’s passion for tennis has inspired not only the players but also everyone who has had the privilege of working alongside him. He has been a mentor, guide, role model, and a friend to all who have worked with him. Thank you so much, Marc! This will always be your home.
