After a dream year, Casper Ruud has qualified for the Nitto ATP Finals. He mathematically confirmed his qualification by advancing to the quarterfinals of the Paris Bercy Masters 1000. At 22, he will become the first Norwegian to reach the tournament, which brings together the top eight players of the season.

“It’s been an incredible year that will have the perfect ending to the season,” Ruud said. “It’s been a stressful couple of weeks and months because it’s been such a tight race. It’s been fun at the same time and very exciting to watch as a tennis fan.”
The player who arrived at the Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar in the summer of 2018 has had a spectacular season in 2021, winning five of his six ATP Tour titles. The Norwegian took victory in Bastad (d. Coria), Gstaad (d. Gaston) and Kitzbühel (d. Martínez), becoming the first player to win three titles in three weeks since Andy Murray won in 2011 in Bangkok, Tokyo and Shanghai. Previously, Casper had been crowned in Geneva (d. Shapovalov) and the San Diego Open (d. Norrie).
At the start of the season, they had never had more than 23 wins in a single year, and in 2021, their spectacular record is 53 wins and 14 losses.
These strong results have helped him break into the Top 10 for the first time and qualify for the ATP Finals, which will be held at the Pala Alpitour in Turin from November 14 to 21.
His evolution can be seen in the documentary “Rafa Nadal Academy,” which can be seen on Amazon Prime and Movistar+.
Although his specialty is clay, the player, trained by his father Christian and the Rafa Nadal Academy by Movistar coach Pedro Clar, has also made notable progress on hard courts. On this surface, where he had 16 wins and 27 in his career, he has already accumulated 23 victories so far this season.
The Norwegian has joined Novak Djokovic, Daniil Medvedev, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Alexander Zverev, Andrey Rublev, and Matteo Berrettini in the Turin squad, where he hopes to cap off an idyllic season.
